- New Super Mario Bros. Wii
I did see the leaked pictures that prooved it would be playable, and I was very skeptical at first.
NSMB was a fantastic game for the DS, don't get me wrong - but initially I thought that another game would just be more of the same gameplay that we already had in the DS version. When it was shown being played by the Nintendo employees, I thought that the 4-way multi-player aspect was a good idea, but nothing too special. You would expect it in a Wii game.
At that point I was on the fence, until I learned that it will not support WiFi battles. Big downer. Nintendo will have to pack a lot into this game to justify a full Wii software purchase.
- Wii Fit Plus
I didn't see too much added content to this version, and I already own the original. I hope that the standalone software is around $20-$25, because buying it by itself without the Balance Board really shouldn't be $50. Wii Fit costs too much, and it doesn't merit an expensive upgrade.
- Wii Sports Resort
Archery looks awesome. They really did well on this one, and judging by how much the presenter messed up during the showing, this one will take some skill. We've all wanted to shoot an arrow like that with our Wii Remote/Nunchucks since Zelda was announced.
Also, Basketball looks great. Can't wait to get my hands on that bundle.
- Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
There wasn't much new announced to talk about for this game, but they picked a good name for it, and it looks great.
- Golden Sun DS
Call me crazy, bu I haven't played one of these games yet. I know Sim has, so let's see what he thinks about a sequel.
- Flip Note Studio
Why does Japan get everything before us ;_;
Just joking - but I'm glad to see this will be coming to DSiWare.
- Mario Vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again
Nintendo announced something coming out seven days later? Wow.
800 Nintendo points is a bit on the expensive side, but a stage creator function is a great idea.
I'll have to look into how much content it has before dishing out that many points, though.
- WarioWare: DIY
Make your own mini-games? That's a great time-killer!
- Wii Vitality Sensor
... What in the world? Nintendo - you forgot to tell us things like how this will be used in... stuff...
- Super Mario Galaxy 2
Yoshi - smart move.
Oh wait - Galaxy 2?
Maybe a few people saw this as a possibility, but it really was a surprise. However, the game looks about the same as the original, but Mr. Cassamasina reports that 90-95 % of the content will be all new. We won't know how this will go until it happens, because Mario has never made a move like this before.
- Metroid: Other M
The opening cinematic gives us a view of a stormy sea, then flies up into the clouds.
Kid Icarus, I knew it.
But it shows a very realistic woman through the window of an aircraft.
Oh. Looks like Sin & Punishment...
Wait - that was Zero Suit Samus!
Other M, huh? What a strange name. Never mind that, though, the game looks beautiful! From graphics to gameplay to story, this is one Metorid game - no - this is one game that every Nintendo fan should want to tear into.
I'm very interested to see how this game transitions from a 1st person perspective to 3rd person, and how it will switch from side-scrolling to 3D "adventure" type of gameplay.
But overall, I just want 2010 to come.
And Nintendo? Please, please, please don't delay this game... Just finish it and get it into our hands.
----
Overall, this year's show was tons better than the past few years'. I was disappointed that know WiiHD was revealed, and Other M would have been a fantastic title to launch along-side it. But on the other hand, I'm just relieved that Nintendo hasn't ignored their hard-core audience.
Thanks, Nintendo!
