Review: Old Snakey!

Yes, I know that I've said we are a Nintendo fan-site, but this is just something I had to show you. It's called "Old Snakey!"

A long story short, I was playing around in Gmail, Google's email service, when I came across something they call Labs. If you use Gmail, you can find it in your settings. What they are, really, is a bunch of features that they are testing out. Google says this in regards to Labs: None of these features are really ready for prime time yet, so they may break, change, or disappear at any time.
I was curious, so scrolled down. Some of them are pretty neat, but I only enabled one (mouse gestures) until I found one very unique one. Yep, Old Snakey.
If you're like me, you miss the good old days when the old-fashioned Snake used to come built-in with cell-phones, now you have to BUY these weird, 3D versions... it's just not the same. So when I saw that Google, for whatever reason, was offering Snake for free, I was like "....In Gmail? OK. That's cool."
All you have to do is 1) Enable keyboard shortcuts on Gmail 2) Enable the Old Snakey lab feature 3) Go to your inbox and press &.
Viola. Old Snakey.

Graphics: 8
Very reminscent of Snake, though having those green specks with the red walls goes against my red/green not-at-Christmas-time policy.

Music: None
Unless you constantly have your playlists going on your PC like I do.

Controlls: 10
All you use are your arrows, space to restart and 0 to pause. Simple and functional enough.

Gameplay: 5.5
It's what you hoped for, good old classic Snake. You eat the green-whatever-they-ares and get bigger, and survive as long as you can without hitting your elongated tail or a wall.
BUT. And it is a big BUT. Old Snakey differs from the original in that the snake's movements are jerky. Alas, it seems he goes one space, and then two. This is pretty distracting, and can effect your gameplay experience easily. If you learn to cope with it, awesome. That makes you a more skilled Snake player.

Overall: 7.5
Hey, it's free for all Gmail users. Just enable it and have fun. (Try to ignore the jerkiness.)
